Protest at the B.C. Legislature
Victoria/CKNW(AM980)

Conservationists, forestry workers, and first nations are joining forces today to send a message to political leaders.

They plan to form a human circle around the legislature.

B.C. environmental activist Ken Wu says the government needs to establish a plan to protect B.C.'s endangered old-growth forests and ensure sustainable forestry jobs in the province.

"There's a broad base movement now where forestry workers are working together with the environmentalists for a plan that will work for everybody. Where the tourism businesses are also speaking up for ancient forests. First nations, whose land this is, have there own land use plan, call for old-growth protection. During this pre-election period, there is an expectation that B.C.'s politicians will actually lead."

Just last week the government backed out of Bill 8, which would have granted private companies logging rights to large sections of public land.

Wu claims more than 1,000 people have pledged to attend the protest in Victoria today.

It's really unfortunate that protests drain our economy and don't benefit the economy. If protests were productive we'd be the richest place on earth........... by far !!!!

too bad the bums that keep initiating these protests are not taxpayers. But I digress. If they were taxpayers, they would not be there protesting.
One of these days these clowns are going to find out that "GOVERNMENTS" only control money taken from the taxpayer . One of these days taxpayers are going to revolt and from that point on, there will be nothing coming from the "GOVERNMENT" except the basics which will be Health and Education and even those organisations are going to find the pickings very slim. If there is somewhere in Canada they can find "NIRVANA" then hopefully they will go there !!!!

@ Brian WA Remember the Occupy Movement? News stations interviewed them and half didn't even know what they were protesting. They're called "professional" protesters. I say professional loosely since they don't make any money.

@ Brian WA Then leave all the spoils for you lot! There would be a revolution first and as in history the rich guys then finished last, you just happen to be a little outnumbered you have the money but they have reasons, they hurt and you do not! They want to protect seeing everything is done in secret.you with money would not make it alone, they do but they protest together and get stronger, first a few then the thousands and pissed- off, here you all talk as though you are better,is it because of money?Or because you were born that way, better not piss people off. The thousands are listening.Go NDP GO

@raulduke They have nothing the way you put it, what do they have to lose, you think they are stupid like all you right winged Zealots profess to know and how it should be done but just with you in mind, along with Liberal/Cons of the coalition in mind. You support the most corrupt party BC has ever witnessed and you still turn the blind eye! Go NDP Go

This is the page where all the liberal/Cons of the coalition run to for sympathy and talk about anal retention and the sphincter muscle. It really coincides with the going's on in the legislature, with loose stools everywhere~Go NDP Go

You people should go and tell the protesters just what you say here and belittle them to their face,if you have the gusto but you would have nowhere to hide, right! You and christy follow the same rules cheat, lie, and steal, then lie again and say you knew nothing! Go NDP Go

@Ken280 Ken, you are really setting yourself up for a fall. We've seen the NDP and we know what they do. What they do never works.

@Ken280 This is the page where anyone with any sense realizes that...

The government doesn't work on Saturdays or Sundays.

The bottom line on this one is the only people that noticed them were the guides for the legislature tours pointing to the fancy ceilings and pretty paintings, the security guys not guarding anyone today, and the tourists wondering why those people were protesting a government that wasn't there today, and why they wouldn't help them find Undersea Gardens, or the Empress Hotel.

That's the trouble with the ignorant KEN 280 ! You and people like you have no clue as to who I am or what I do ! You just assume that I have Money because I have an opinion that is different than yours and if I have money,
it should somehow be distributed down to the likes of you and all the other Bums that don't want to work. You may have money as well, I have no idea, but because you support the NDP, it is somehow appropriate to badmouth everyone else around you while you hoard your cash without anybody knowing and assuming you are just like the other rabble. You talk like them but I doubt you are like them at all !!!
    1. Ken280 posted on 03/17/2013 06:59 PM
@ Brian WA do you know what you really wanted to say! If you have no monet you would not vote for a right winged Government if you do then who is the stupid. All you people with money are all talk, you all say the same crap that someone that protest are bums and freeloader.you sound just like the people who support right winged Governments for your gain! Government should be there to govern fairly and for all of it's citizens. This business model seems to be greatly flawed and need to be revised to reflect all peoples needs, not just the affluent or people who think they are better than others or with corporate controls. The trouble here in BC, is we have foreign influence that are trying to turn our governments, that become similar to other regimes within the commonwealth that favor the wealthy with a class system that will discriminate against anyone that does not conform to their belief, that been poor is being just a Bum and as the food banks continue, the hungry children will persist! Then poverty is just another word to mean, just being lazy.

You have a lot of nerve telling BOBF_5970 that you give your opinions. Unacceptable to a man who lives a double standard of life.
You say one thing here to the readers and do the exact opposite when it comes to your hip pocket.
    START PRACTISING WHAT YOU PREACH!
