Vancouver rally against CBSA raids
VANCOUVER/CKNW(AM980)

A noon hour rally outside Canadian Border Services Agency office in downtown Vancouver by families of people who were detained yesterday in several raids across the city.

The illegal migrant workers were arrested by CBSA members at sites across the city.

Two of their wives admit at the rally that their husbands - both from Honduras - were working here without work permits and, in fact, never even tried to obtain them.

What they're also upset about is the raids were carried out with camera crews in tow for a reality TV show.

Another man says the workers came here to work on  the Canada Line and Olympic Athletes Village and he says the federal government should cut them some slack.

This is a job for Jim Sinclair !!! These people are here illegally, taking good paying jobs from Canadians. I shall assume Jim will have them hussled, chop-chop, into Court to have them removed ???

Nice to see the CBSA doing their job. I would like to see them doing raids on TIM HORTONS too.
I feel the big reason employers want migrant workers is they dont want to pay Canadian wages so they import workers who will work for slave wages.
its time we as Canadians stood up and said NO.
it looks like the latest trick with TFWs is to have a kid here too after what appeared to be a TFW nursing a child while wearing her Timmies uniform.
Untill every Canadian that wants to work has a job with a living wage shut the boarders down. Thank you CBSA

I'm all for immigration when done properly. Why should we be cutting any slack to people who jump the queue? Fine the employers and send them all home. People using the proper channels are forced to wait for years and get delayed due to cases like this. Run them out let them appeal from outside the country.

I'm with CBSA on this one.As to the "rally",I am reading that it is being organized by a special interest group that calls itself "No One Is Illegal". A group that was once led by Harsha Walia, and claimed that Canada is illegal because it is not a real country. So on one in Canada has the authority to defend our borders. To that end, they did all they could do to hide people who had been ordered out of the country.
I completely disagree with those who suggest that Canada doesn't need immigrants. But we need hard working and law abiding immigrants who are willing to come here legally. We have enough criminals of our own.
As to filming the incident, the police did this years ago.I think it's a good thing for us to see what goes on in our own country.Besides,if the people on the video didn't sign a release, their identities were not shown when the program was aired. That part of the story is a non issue as far as I am concerned.I would LIKE to have the identities of law breakers shown when a program like this is aired. But I can live with concealing their faces,at least untill they have been proven guilty of a crime.
And yes.By all means.Deport them and those who want to defend the practise of illegal immigration. In many cases it's little more than human trafficking. Those who help get workers into the country illegally most often OWN those workers. They are also criminals,IMO.

What about the firms that take advantage of the situation. They should be in front of labour relations to explain they're actions.

Great work CBAS, we need more raids between illegal workers and temporary workers no wonder my grandson cannot get a job even thought he has applied at several places. I guess he does not look vulnerable enough, a nice young Canadian boy, who wants to give him employment when they can get people who are desperate to work and will never question anything not even if their paycheque’s arrive late.

Deport them immediately, and all their family members. They can apply to immigrate to Canada just like any other person, and get at the back of the line and wait their turn.

Good job CBSA. I'm glad to see our immigration laws are being enforced. If they're here illegally, get them outta here!
