Bennett defends "turd" tweet

Liberal cabinet minister Bill Bennett is making no apologies for calling New Democrats "turds" in a tweet last night.


Bennett says he's been called worse by the opposition.


Bennett says politics is a rough business and we stand up in the house and we call each other names in Question Period on a regular basis...perhaps not that particular word, but other words that are probably a lot harsher than that word, and it was said in fun, with tongue in cheek.


Bennett says he made the tweet after an evening with fellow MLA's but alcohol was not a factor.

    Can you ever imagine billy who slimed his way out of the cess pool with snookums and the rest of the LIEBERALS calling anyone else a "TURD"? I sure can't. You couldn't believe any of these cess pool slime balls if they told you today is Wednesday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    This just shows what a low level politicians have reached and not just by the liberals as BY_7436 states. No wonder there is so much disrespect for our so-called leaders. And no wonder voter turn-out is so low at election time.

    With no one to vote for these days, spoiling ballots should be regarded as a viable democratic statement as it is in other parts of the world. Spoiling a ballot means I am supporting democracy by exercising my right to vote, but I don't want any of these losers as my "leader".

      @WDW1 While I share your frustration with the low class ( no class ?) of people stepping forward to be elected , I don't think your actions will have any benificial result

      What we need is for people to get more involved at the grass roots level and understand which candidate will best support them directly . Vote in people who are running independantly - vote in people from the Fringe parties ... shake up the mainstream parties who have become complacent in who they think they can put forwad .
