NDP facing questions over so-called 'slush-fund'
VICTORIA/CKNW (AM980)
Sean Leslie | Email news tips to Sean
3/12/2013

The NDP was on the defensive in Victoria today over a half million dollar pool of money that the Liberals say was being misused.

But the opposition says it did nothing wrong.

It didn't take long in Question Period for the Liberals to make hay with the story, alleging the pooling of constituency money to pay for partisan activities was improper.

"That apparently Mr. Speaker,  is a rule that this leader of the opposition and his colleagues have chosen to ignore."

But NDP caucus chair Shane Simpson told reporters the opposition did nothing wrong and the Liberals are throwing mud to distract from their ethnic outreach scandal.

"What they did was unethical and it was wrong. What we did was appropriate."

But Simpson concedes the party erred in using the fund to cover caucus deficits-he blames bad advice from the legislature's comptroller.

Remember the lesson boys and girls.
    It's not what you do.
It's how you word your reasoning that makes your right or wrong.
And don't take credit for your misgivings.
Just blame somebody else for doing something too, or blame someone else for your "oversight".

Can the adults please start playing MLA now?

You apparently all suffer from indiscretion overload, so let's get on with what you're going to do to grow BC's economy and future without costing everyone untold hardship.

If you're going to give us something from column "A", what are we going to give up from column "B" ?

Boy oh boy. I bet snookums is feeling all warm and wet over this. She can probably see the light at the end of the tunnel. But she is standing on the tracks and it is the headlight in the locomotive that she sees. Unless it is the former BC Rail tracks that "THE TOWN DRUNK" leased fo 999 years. She is getting warm and wet over 1/2 million. What did the BC Rail scam cost us to give to "THE TOWN DRUNKS" friends?????????????????????

@taxed to death Good on you Taxed to death, NW sure has a firm grasp on old news. The NDP had the balls to tell the AG to call the RCMP if they thought they did something wrong. And no RCMP. Maybe Leslie should read Tsakumis every day. That guy is thick as two short planks. Can hardly wait to see nw wake up and get rid of Good and Leslie.

The interesting thing about all these back and forth allegations is that the Libs were caught with a memo about things they COULD do and the NDP were caught with things they DID do.

@Ron_26 So then the thing to do is have the RCMP investigate all the scandals. That includes the Prince George Wood building, the ethnicgate scandal, the Eric Foster renovation thing as well as this latest inquiry. I'm sure you wouldn't say no to that....would you?

I'm glad to see that the usual suspects are commenting on the latest "scandal" . (Sorry ! It's apparently not a scandal when the NDP do it).
It is taxpayer money and ANY party that uses our tax money to further their party agendas should appologise and repay the money !
OOps ! I forgot that the Million dollar bingogate money is still owed by the NDP. ( no mention of that in the comments ! )
Your ignorant name calling and lack of substance just illustrates to me the NDP notion of "taking the high road" is in serious trouble if the people in the above COMMENTS are an indicator !!
