Man faces extradition to the U-S on molestation charges
VANCOUVER/CKNW (AM980)

3/12/2013

A known criminal in Canada is being extradited to the United States to face molestation and child rape charges after having his appeal dismissed.

Erlan Lizandro Acosta was fighting the extradition to Washington State with his lawyer accusing Canada's Attorney General of a "sleight of hand."

Court of Appeal judges disagreed saying the requirement of double criminality was met, meaning the charges in Washington State are indictable here.

Acosta is charged with two counts of child molestation in the first degree and one count of rape of a child in the first degree.

For an appeal to be dismissed, there's usually enough evidence to prove there was no slight of hand by the AG's office.
