BC's Auditor General done in May
VICTORIA/CKNW (AM980)

BC's Auditor-General will be leaving sooner rather than later.

John Doyle is taking a job in Australia, but had argued his current term in BC should expire in October, six years after he began the job.

But Speaker of the Legislature, Bill Barisoff,  says Doyle will be done in May.

"I can inform the house that the Auditor-General of British Columbia will be vacating his office on or before may 28th, 2013."

It's unclear who will fill the post when Doyle leaves, but the Liberals have introduced a bill to appoint the next auditor-general to one non-renewable eight year term...and to allow the appointment of an acting auditor-general.

To be honest, I thought he had already left.

Another BC Fiberal scam. Run the honest man out of town (they didn't renew Doyle's contract, even though he did a bang up job of defending the public). Obviously, he has no problem getting a better job elsewhere (probably better terms as well). The Fiberals change the rules (8 year appointment). Next comes the selection of the Fiberal (thorn in the side of the NDP) lackey that will defend the right wing and attack the left, regardless of what is best for the people of BC. This is too easy.

We need John Doyle to train his replacement. To see the same shady accounting practices and unearth all the bogus numbers that is being spun as a "balanced budget".

@BlakeN Honesty and integrity you can’t train someone to have that … they are born with it

@BlakeN I also wouldn't let him train anyone either. Succession planning is necessary, but only if terms are limited so they precede without prejudice. Or succeed without prejudice. Depends on your view.

Just leave the work there, memos to follow and your reports and research. These accountants are not dumb and will see where they left off.

No John Doyle is beating around the bush. He had to have his application in by October 1, 2012, deadline, for the job in Australia. If you go and research the data and the original advertisement on this job, you will see that the Victoria, Australia premier announced in his speech that the new auditor general Doyle would begin work on July 1, 2013.
Amazing a man, we call an auditor general leaving out major facts about his leaving the job here.
He already had the Australia job in his hip pocket before the annoucement that his job here would not be renewed.
It's amazing how people just love propaganda.

@joes_2868 Research? Like the research done on building ferries in BC during the 90s? Joe, you should know better than that. NDP hacks don't do research.
