It took some dogged police work to find him and bring him back to Canada, and now a local man has pleaded guilty to murdering his girlfriend in Vancouver 14 years ago.
Poonam Randhawa's body was found in a car near her school, Sir Winston Churchill secondary, back in 1999.
Her family wiped away tears as Ninderjit Singh pleaded guilty to the lesser offence of second degree murder in court today.
Police had alledged singh had killed Randhawa, then fled to Los Angeles, where he dodged the authorities for years, even being featured on 'America's Most Wanted'.
He was finally arrested in August 2011, in Riverside County, California.
He will be sentenced March 27.
