Despite several raids on other unions and criticism from labour leaders, the president of the BC nurses union says she is a team player.

Deb Mcpherson says she takes issue with accusation the BCNU is 'cozy with the province, "The BC nurses union is a non-partisan organization and we work with which ever government is in place. We also criticize which ever government is in place at the time if we do not see them doing the right thing by the nurses and the patients."

Mcpherson says she is also disappointed with the stance taken against the BCNU by other unions, "My intent is always good, I am on the high road, do you want to work with me then come on along because there is a lot of room at the table of victory, right."

McPherson says she is willing to work with other labour groups.

"It is unfortunate that the other unions have taken the position they have taken however we believe we have done the right thing, clearly the 7200 LPN's believe we have done the right thing."

While Health Minister Margaret MacDiarmid spoke at the nurses union convention there were no NDP MLA's on the speakers list.

"You will have to ask them that question we did invite Adrian Dix and or the Health critic to join us but they indicated they are unavailable."

Adrian Dix was a featured speaker at the Hospital Employees Union convention last November.

The BCNU successfully raided LPN's away from the HEU in October.

Unions bickering? Don't forget BCNU has all the bandaids.

I know for a fact that other unions will not come to the aid of the BCNU should that need ever arise. They have "blackballed" themselves!

"No NDP speakers on the guest list". Is Brian Topp already here in B.C.?
    Please inform the readers.

I think the labor unions are rabid. Even more extreme than the NDP.

@MichaelD_10 Public sector unions are just the NDP under another name. The unions are the puppet masters of the NDP.I do not see how you can separate one from the other. We know that the NDP want to dispel that line of thinking. But every term the NDP has had in power is the proof in the pudding.Public sector unions were massively rewarded under both NDP governments.Ujjal Dosanjh rewarded them even more on his way out the door. What do you think led Gordo to tear up union contracts?? It was the wrong way to remedy the situation. But those contracts were absurd. They were signed by the NDP to buy support from those unions in the next election. But they were a massive abuse of taxpayers.Pure and simple.

This sort of sheds some light on who some unions think they represent. The nurses union seem to be supporting their membership whereas others (like the BCTF) are in it for themselves and their own vague social ideology.

as far as I'm concerned they can drop dead. The BCNU not the nurses.

LOL!! "my intent is always good, and I am on the high road------". I guess she truly believes that.Surely she would not lie to us.It is possible that she is just genuinely mistaken. Having said that, even Moses hinself could not solve this health care dilema on his own.My problem is that these public sector unions always claim they can fix this mess,if we just send them more money. Then,we send them more money, most of it ends up in the pockets of their members, and the people they are sworn to serve see little or no improvement in the services they receive.
I have no axe to grind with nurses or workers. But know this people, our public sector unions are NOT our friends. They think our tax dollars belong to them, and everything we want should be paid for with tolls and user fees. I will respect them when they agree to work for the same wages and benefits as the taxpayers in the private sector who pay them. And not one minute before.
