Maple Ridge is looking to use zoning to restrict medical marijuana grow ops to a certain part of the city.

Councillor Cheryl Ashlie says they want to sure Marijuana cannot legally be grown in an area zoned for industrial use. .

However Ashlie says the city’s agricultural lands are currently under utilized.

"For our community it would work best in agricultural land and we want to make sure that we keep our industrial lands which would be the other area they may end up if it is a commercial grow we as a region we know that we need to preserve our industrial lands and we just figured it is much more suited to an agricultural activity than it would be an industrial park activity."

The changes are in a draft bylaw which has yet to be voted on by council.

Thoughtless rules, made by thoughtless people, to look after thoughtless people.
We have way to many silly rules and laws. Made by in many cases well meaning misguided silly folks, to look after silly folks.
Some folks swim in the deep end of the gene pool, others like the shallow end. I say let folks swim where they like. That's evolution.

@MichaelD_10 Ya. Who needs laws? Let's just have a free for all.

I thought evolution meant becoming better not moving closer to chaos.
