A new headache for the Clark government
Victoria/CKNW(AM980)

It's the last thing the Clark government needs: Another scandal.

Cabinet ministers Pat Bell and Shirley Bond are under fire for their alleged roles in trying to influence a 25-million dollar government project in Prince George.

At issue is whether Bell and Bond exerted pressure to secure funding for a wood development centre in their hometown of Prince George; then left two local businessman who put land together for the project out hundreds of thousands of dollars when they didn't make the short list.

New Democrat M.L.A. Maurine Karagianis is calling for a full investigation.

"These are very serious allegations, not to be taken lightly not to be brushed off by the jobs minister."

Jobs Minister Pat Bell says he did nothing wrong by asking the Northern Development Trust to lend money to the unlucky developers.

"We do exactly that Mr. speaker, I'm sure the member opposite would do that if she had the opportunity as well."

Premier Christy Clark is standing by her ministers.

This situation requires an RCMP investigation. Not one with "personal ties" to the government.

@BlakeN Hold onto your panties, cause your wish just came true...sort of.
      As of today:
Former Liberal constituency president, and retired RCMP superintendent Mike Morris has been nominated to run In Pat Bell's old riding.
I guess the Libs figured they could use the advice of an "in-house" cop to avoid the litany of legal pratfalls that just keep on coming on a daily basis.
Might have been a good move except for the fact he's a former riding president, who's now hoping to supplement his gold-plated RCMP pension with an even bigger MLA paycheque.
Quite frankly, the ongoing bad press for the RCMP brass and their Old Boys' Network with the odorous class action lawsuits should have given him pause for thought.
      The circus continues...

Lock them all up on principle and leave it to a parole board to sort it out in 5-10 years.
It is getting so bad that even the thought of another liberal scandal is not news any more.
Unless cristy is doing it deliberately to get some good ratings for her pals in MSM.

Pat Bell did nothing wrong with asking a bank to lend money to these developers? Since when does anybody ask banks to lend anybody money except the people asking to borrow money? Was Pat Bell going to co-sign any loan? This absolutely stinks to high heaven and I think the guys who got the shaft are going to make sure they will not be alone. These liberals haven't got a clue how to operate without payoffs and back room deals.

The sky is falling, the sky is falling, the sky is falling!

I remember the NDP in power a couple times and those heady days were full of real scandal.

Today, those bent on crucifying anyone with a Liberal inclination are hanging onto whatever piece of information fed to them and declaring it the Gods honest truth! Give your head a shake!

There may be dishonest people in this world but certainly everyone who supports Liberal or other parties are not all crooked. By smearing peoples integrity rightly or wrongly, you are placing yourself into the same boat as those you are accusing of wrong doing.

Are you operating on FACTS or the heresay dripping from the mouths of those other Lemmings?

@Chuck M HEY! you are hereby notified that your name-calling and colourful opinion are bordering on nasty, bigoted and unwanted to the eyes of us precious CKNW'ers.

      Please tone it down!
      ((((sarcasm))))))

Can you refresh my memory on the "real" scandals when the NDP were in power?
Just trying to recall and it's been so long since they were in majority Govt.
I know we went through the financial "Asian Flu" during the 90's which most have forgotton, yet they managed to maintain fiscally sound. Even handing a balanced budget off to the Campbell Libs. who's first order of business was to announce Corp. tax cuts which then saw our Provincial services drop and our fees increase.
    Hmmm!

      @cM_8711 How about:
The Carrier Lumber Scandal, Fast Ferry Scandal, Bingo Gate scandal, Casino Gate Scandal, Fudge it Budget Scandal, NDP Candiates smoking marijuana in a video and posting it on Youtube, an NDP candidate skinny dipping with youth and then sitting naked, having young females body painting his legs.....
How about the NDP proposing to dictate all candidates must give the Leadership access to all their facebook, linkedin and other platforms! A true breach of privacy.

Well, let's not forget the "memo" backdated as well as Glen CLark who was found not guilty. But let's never mention that point. The NDP simply pale in comparion hands down in dirty dealings
Have a gander at 100 reasons the Liberals must go - quite an extensive list and she says they will be much more added before the election - god it must be up to several hundred by now!!

The scary part is these are just the things we have found out.....with the length of time they've been in government, I'm sure there is even MORE!

I don't know about anybody else, but I'm tired of scandal fatigue and the barrage of embarrassment brought on our Province!
