Charges have been laid against three men in connection with the murder of Jonathan Bacon in Kelowna in the summer of 2011.

Jason McBride of North Vancouver, Jujhar Khun-Khun of Surrey,  and Michael Jones of Gibsons are charged with first degree murder and four counts of attempted murder.

80 police officers worked for 18 months on the case dubbed "Project E-Nitrogen."

Assistant RCMP Commissioner Wayne Rideout says this is an important day for public safety in BC.

"E-Nitrogen was a high priority case for law enforcement  and for the citizens of British Columbia.  Numerous resources from CFSEUBC, the RCMP, municipal police departments and government agencies were dedicated to this critical public safety project."

Rideout says the shooting ".....caused a cascade of violence around the province."

Kudos to the law enforcement personnel. Now let's just hope the courts deal with them appropriately!
