Vancouver city councillor: land titles show Kits Base property is federal crown land

After the Department of Fisheries and Oceans told CKNW the land the Kits Coast Guard base sits on is owned by the province and leased to the federal government, a Vancouver city councillor says that doesn't match the information he has.

Councillor Kerry Jang.

"I did some looking around and I found in all documents I could find that it is actually federal crown land and the Department of Fisheries and Oceans is the department on record."

This comes after the BC Federation of Labour obtained a federal government memo that seemed to suggest the property may be for sale and part of a land deal.

The DFO says the idea of Kits base being included in a land deal is "factually inaccurate".

This is the same city counsellor that lied saying he had to 'sneak' in to a news conference at the navy base.

In fact he walked right up to the gate and was welcomed in and THEN the Chinese media van pulled up and offered to drive him in.

You lied then Mr. Jang, are you lying now too?

Now this does raise a question, did the Chinese media drive him in because he was councilor or because he looked Chinese, Chinese media gets a little confused at times, he is born and raised in Canada, they have word for it
