Abbotsford Police have an update on the body found on the side of Riverside Road on Monday, and it appears to have been a hit-and-run.

Police say the body of the victim, a 34-year-old South Asian woman, has significant injuries on her rear torso.

They say those are consistent with having been hit by a car.

Police believe the driver, and any passengers in the vehicle, would have felt such an impact.

They add her death could have happened a few days before her body was found -- given the conditions and temperature of the roadside.

Her family has not yet been notified, so her name hasn't been released.

Police ask any witnesses or neighbours who may have information to come forward.
