After years of complaints, the B.C. government has agreed to review pricing used to levy fees against the public sector for carbon off-sets.

Environment Minister Terry Lake now admits changes may be needed to ensure the public sector is getting bang for its buck.

"We've shown leadership by having a carbon neutral public sector, but we want to make sure we get good value for the public sector and that's why we'll be reviewing the Pacific Carbon Trust and the price that they are paying for offsets."

Public facilities forced to buy offsets include schools and hospitals.

The current charge is 25 dollars per tonne and that price was set in 2007.

Why would they be reviewing anything. Hopefully they will be turfed after the budget on Tuesday. If not then in May. They are just wasting money doing anything now.

what do you club members think will be the odds of Terry Lake being elected in the next election or cabinet. Do you see minority government in the making?

BY_7463: How so? The NDP need 49% plus of the total majority vote to become government. Anything under 49% keeps them as the official opposition. Do the math, not what you hear from the polls.
Your are an educated person, so do your research.

The Carbon trust ( aka the corporate welfare scheme) is a prgram that I can see Dix supporting - it has all the right components of idealog government social planning associated with it.
Ie put a levy on government run entities ( ie tax Joe average ) and then hand over the money to corporations that can take the time to devise goofy carbon credit make work schemes!

Joe, Here is how it works. If there are say 100,000 voters in an electoral district and out of that your voter turn out is 10%, that leaves 10,000 votes, correct? OK out of 10,000 votes, IF you end up with 1000 votes for the BC Conservative candidate, 1000 votes for the green party candidate, 500 votes for party affiliation like the Marijuana Party and 3000 votes for the liberals with 4500 votes for the NDP, who wins?
