VANCOUVER/CKNW (AM980)

"We're friends,we're neighbours."

That is the message from Alberta's Energy Minister as he speaks to the Vancouver Board of Trade about challenges Alberta faces in moving its oil products.

Ken Hughes says he is here to collaborate and work with British Columbians when  it comes to moving bitumen from Alberta  through BC.

And what is he hearing?

'Well, I think there's a diversity of opinion . I'm here to listen. i'm not hear to try and interpret and speak on behalf of british columbians. i'm really hear to listen, to try to understand what people's concerns are, try to understand what's going on in this province."

Hughes says all of Canada is hurting because of the challenges Alberta is facing in moving its oil products.

I think that the Liberals of BC can relate to Hughes. The PC's of Alberta are that in name only - they are actually Liebrals in reality

Sell your snake-oil elsewhere please. It should be obvious it isn't wanted here. We take the risk from spotty companies and you get the gold. Sure thing buddy!

This is for Hugh F and the rest in opposition to pipelines. I support pipelines, oil/gas/whatever....... but by someone more responsible.
All those opposed to pipelines will drive their car to the rally, and heat their homes with What??? :) This country would barely exist if it wasn't for marketing resources and raw materials. We should refine our resources as much as possible, and get into secondary manufacturing as much as possible, but opposing anything and everything to do with resource developement is not well thought through by the nay sayers.
I don't write in to things like things generally, but I feel I must make it clear that there are people that support developement and progress. We need to move forward as a country. This NIMBY syndrome needs to stop.
I've said my piece, let the flaming begin. But don't expect a reply from me.

@PeterB_37 So we'll send it to China ..... Haven't seen those pictures of the air in China recently have you? Cans of air, everyone wearing masks, air quality advisory and so on. Yeah Petey, let's throw a little more dirty energy on them. Coal just doesn't cut it any more.

Ken280, the readers consultant has been trying for years to speak at the Vancouver Board of Trade.
It seems they DO NOT want to book him for any of the functions.

    I WONDER WHY!
