The federal government has revealed the location of the rescue boat station which will replace the Kitsilano Coast Guard base.

The rescue boat station will be staffed 24/7 from May through Labour Day and will be located at HMCS Discovery in Stanley Park.

Deputy Commissioner of Coast Guard Operations, Jody Thomas, can't guarantee response times will stay the same.

"We can guarantee the reaction time will be within international standards.  It won't be the same as Kitsilano because Kitsilano is.... depending on where the incident is will be slower to get to Coal Harbour than it is to False Creek."

Vancouver councillor Kerry Jang says that's simply not acceptable, adding he attended the news conference by sneaking in with the media because no one from the city was invited.

Counciller Jang should be ashamed of himself for this ridiculous lie. He did not sneak in. He walked up to the gate, lied about who he was and then when he finally told the DFO who he was, they happily let him in. He jumped in a truck with the Chinese media because they offered him a ride so he wouldn't have to 'walk so far'.

    Shame on you Jang.
