A tour bus company with a coach involved in a fatal crash in late December can no longer operate in the United States.

The U-S Department of Transportation has ordered Mi Joo Tour and Travel to cease U-S operations.

In a release, the Department says it has conducted an investigation into the company's compliance with U-S safety regulations, including record keeping of drivers' hours.

It says that investigation revealed that Mi Joo failed to take basic measures to make sure drivers were properly rested.

It says on December 30th, the company allowed a driver to drive after having been on duty for well beyond the 70 hours maximum permitted under federal regulations.

That driver's bus crashed, killing nine peopele, and injuring 39 others.

this is a good thing until this company, staff and buses have been checked out further for any lapse in maintenance and drivers ability to drive these units but Ken280 will probably disagree with this

I knew it - just knew it
an Asian type owned/operated company NOT playin by the RULES!
    Imagine that?????

Hope ALL the horrible people responsibe PAY BIG TIME for this
    Totally UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!

Wonder if thiss happened in good ole Canada if-
NOT ONLY would this 'investigation" still be ongoing ....zzzzzzzzz
and we would know nothing - due to big ole Canadian privacy rights
(and not pissin off any NEW Canadians)
if we would have simply gave them a stern talking to (of course pressing 1 for language aid) and then gave them government support and TAX money to continue to operate (AKA:KILL)

@speakup The Chinese and Koreans have many bus touring companies here and on most if you are not Asian you are not allowed to go! They have Cheap tour trips for years.Korean students told me 4 days with food and lodging to Banff! Cost only $199 now I think they got inflation and it is $325 must be nice to travel at these cheap rates with food and a place to sleep!.I wondered how they keep rate so low?? These are not chartered either you can see them advertise at H mart downtown Vancouver.

You want reasonable safety standards or you want cheap? I'm glad to see the US department of Transportation looks at the facts and doesn't listen to the lies.
