For the second time in a week, North Shore Rescue crews were near Cypress Mountain to bail an out-of-bounds snowboarder out of trouble.

This time it was a man celebrating his 30th birthday out of bounds Saturday night.

Team leader Tim Jones says it took his team two hours to get to the man after establishing voice contact, and when they found him he was uninjured apart from being a bit wet but dehydrated.

He says it was the same type of situation as Sebastian Boucher, rescued earlier this week, and that's frustrating for crews who now have to risk their lives.

Jones has a warning for anyone heading out of bounds:

"It's Russian Roulette right now.  Your luck is going to run out."

Crews are still struggling to recover twenty thousand dollars worth of equipment used to rescue Boucher Tuesday.

Start charging these people who commit these acts of stupidity! If they don't want to pay the cost of rescue, maybe they will think twice about skiing out of bounds, and endangering the lives of search and rescue personnel.

@DavidM_4081 Yes and they should know up front. Perhaps a sign could be posted at the hill to warn those who deliberately go out of bounds they will be liable for any rescue costs

One of these times someone is going to get hurt rescuing a punk who didn't think that the rules applied to them.

@ChrisM_18 I agree Chris. There has already been the young woman killed in a rescue operation on the river. It is just a matter of time before something goes wrong. No matter how much training you do things can happen in high risk activities.

let Darwin takes its course - let the idiot freeze to death or make his/her own way out, why should these rescue crews risk their own safety for that of an idiot?! theres not enough food and oxygen in the world for the huge population we have anyway

@lg_3045 Now now. If they did that how would Mr Jones and company get their weekly adrenaline fix. Large and INCHARGE and fully ADRENILIZED.

@lg_3045 Now you have no respect for human life, you said one thing that I will agree? There's not enough food and oxygen in the world for the huge population we have anyway? You should add for people who think like you!

It's time to start leaving them out there.

I agree in principle with the idea of charging them for the rescue services, and that should happen immediately. But no one would have the guts to enforce it and these losers will just walk away. They don't care about anything but their stupid selves, have already proven that so why would they be responsible enough to pay their bill?

NSSR team you are brave and noble, but it's out of hand and one of these days we'll hear of one of you losing your life in the service of one of these arrogant entitled idiots. My choice would be for you to live, not them.

Turning 30 and still stupid. Hope this guy doesn't have kids because he is too stupid to look after himself.

@JimP_5079 I agree. Remember the seven snowmobilers who went into an avalanche area and they all died leaving their wives and little children....idiots all!

How about criminal charges to put an end to this. Sooner or later one or more of these rescue heroes is going to be killed.

Skiing mostly is for the class of people who have it all. The truly entitled out of bounds in bounds the do not care about anyone or thing. The one that would join in a riot and the tokers and boozers up on the hill but skiing is and expensive recreation ! Look who is going out of bounds. they came up with $10,000 for that man last week. Why? Because I guess he can afford it!

@Ken280 @ken280 Ide like to see Mr Bouchers employer re-evaluate him. I feel Mr Bouchers critical thinking skills are not up to being involved with such an institution as the Bank of Canada.

These goofs that go out of bounds volunteered to go under the rope, so they can volunteer to come back under the rope, or a better idea, they should all gather, say in a group of 50(likely the amount that get lost every winter) and all get lost together. As a group they could find there way back to their cars. NO?
