A 25-year old Chinese national living in Richmond has now been charged with first degree murder in the death of his mother.

Yuan Xi Tang is accused of killing 47 year old Lianjie Guo in June before reporting her missing to police.

The 47 year old victim was visiting him with her husband when she was killed.

Her remains were found in a suitcase near Harwood Island off Powell River in July.

Police are not saying why they believe Tang killed her, but he's also been charged with plotting to kill his father, who returned to China June 9th.

Tang will be prosecuted in Canada.

Thanks CKNW for following up on this story, it's nice to bring closure, especially for the family.

I guess that's why they say most of the time these cases when there's no gang involvement, it's a family matter. I remember seeing on TV the plea the father made to find his wife, and the camera showed his son, who showed no emotion that his mother was missing. Clearly CSI isn't all made up exaggerations!

Imagine how the mother felt moments before her death, betrayed by her very own son. So sad. I can never fathom what would drive someone to kill their parent.

@opq I can certainly fathom why the accused killed his mother. $$$$$$$ She quite likely refused to give him $ and he snuffed her. If we had a court system worth a damn, stick him in jail for 25 years, then after that, send him packing right back where he came from. Be explicit with the 25 years! No stupidity such as parole!
