Possible fan boycott of NHL owners' other businesses

A handful of hockey fans are fed up with the labour dispute between the N-H-L and the Players' Association, as a possible lockout looms.

And they have a new idea to catch the team owner's attention and change the tide.

T. J. Tully is an Oilers fan who has set up a website called you-have-two-weeks-dot-com.

He says, "the owners have all these others businesses, so we're saying we're not going to support anything else that you own if there's a lockout. So montreal, they own Molson, we're not going to buy any Molson products. Our website has probably over 100 companies that all these owners own, and we're basically saying we're boycotting every one of those companies until the hockey season starts."

In Vancouver, for example, Dallas Stars owner Tom Gaglardi also owns the Sandman Hotel chain and the Shark Club.

Tully says if there's enough pressure by the September 15th contract deadline, he hopes the league will buckle and fans will see the puck drop.

Thank you CKNW for giving us a voice!
I just want to clarify that there are no dashes in the website.

I say boycott everything even a salvaged season, seeing Rogers Arena empty should get Betman fired!

I've boycotted everything about the NHL since the LAST time this crap went on. Sure I missed Hockey at first but now, I really see what the true greed and scam is all about. No support from me again. Most people are too stupid to take a stand though, too lazy as well, basically just pathetic sheep.

@Vancouver Sucks There is absolutely nothing wrong with watching professional hockey. A life revolving around it is one thing, but being a fan is perfectly acceptable.

I used to be an NBA fan. The presence of the Grizzlies played a role in it. However, after seeing a few lock outs, a whole season gone and then 2011 having no season I got tired of it. A sport where players see this as a game of show boating and doing it just for themselves is not something I appreciate.

Hockey, the players that do it for themselves are the ones that serve the least. At least in this game you can tell when players don't give a shit about their own team mates.

A 50% profit share deal is a fair deal. It's the most obvious deal and the team is half theirs.

I did laugh at the business of each team...especially when it came to Phoenix.

To hell with any NHL team. Watch the Giants. It's faster hockey, and very good, as the kids are striving for stats, not $$$$$. Good stats, will lead to $$$$$, eventually while the NHL is out playing silly bugger with that twerp Bettman and his band of billionaires. Who cares?

@RegA [deleted] How do good stats lead to money when there is no league to play in to make the money?
