Convicted hit and run killer Paul Antunes has lost his bid to be allowed to drive again four years after he's released from prison.

He's currently serving five and a half years for criminal negligence causing the deaths of Stanley Wong and John Larkin.

They were two of the three men Antunes struck on November 11th, 2005 in downtown Vancouver.

When he was convicted, he was banned from driving for 11 years.

He was seeking to have that ban reduced, but three BC Court of Appeal judges have quickly dismissed his application... saying Antunes has a history of reckless driving and he's never explained why he left the scene of the fatal crash.

He's eligible for parole in December.

Good! All drivers who kill people should lose their licenses for at least 10 years, starting AFTER they are released from prison. Driving is a privilege not a right.

Well said, Andrea! I honestly believe that if they kill someone while driving like an idiot, the ban should be lifetime! I have seen too much carnage when I was in the RCMP Auxiliiary for 14 years from 1974 to 1988.

No one should resume a normal life and carry on as normal without lifetime consequences. This does not sound like someone riddled with guilt because we would know the whole story. I agree with life long ban on his driving privileges! He has ruined lives and therefore should suffer the same.

What country do you people think you live in ? This is Canada where criminals don't get punished, they get rehabilitated !
The judges here obviously think this fellow hasn't been sufficiently rehabilitated .... Ie he hasn't apologized for his crimes !

Hit and run drivers are no different than any other criminal and if someone has a history of abuse - driving is s priviledge - than they should be banned. Just who do you think pays for their carnage? Yes, the rest of the insured driving public, but that's not the worst of it; what about the victims, who are dead and gone, where were their rights? What a self centred pile of crap who has no sense of right and wrong and devoid of a conscience.

Protect the public first. We don't care about how inconvenient not being able to drive might be for him. Being dead is even more inconvenient.
