B-C's Transporation Minister says the province is looking for ways to crack down on party buses.

Mary Polak's comments come less than two weeks after a 16-year old boy died after being on a party bus in Surrey, and a case in Port Moody where police checked a party bus and found a highly intoxicated youth.

"Our question is is there more that we can do from a regulatory side, from a legislative side, to put more teeth into the restrictions on this."

Polak has asked ministry staff to call party bus operators and make sure they're aware of their license obligations,  which include no alcohol on board and chaperones for underage passengers.

I am not familiar with party buses .... if they are booze buses then perhaps only people of age should go.....

@AnneH_4 That's exactly the problem -the bus operators allow any young kid that wants to get on the bus , stagger on in any condition. Of course this attracts underage kids and turns off everyone else that are over the legal age !

Oh who cares let the kids have fun, last thing we need is more regulations, how about doing something about people who drive in the left lane!!

@MikeS_41 Who cares? Oh, I don't know... maybe the parents of the child that died? Maybe anyone with any moral compass that knows that it is frequently underage kids that use these types of mobile parties? These types of "services" are notorious for very high levels of intoxication. Regulation and enforcement is LONG overdue.

@MikeS_41 Mike, I hope you are saying that in jest, otherwise you are an idiot.

where do they grow you people? if kids aren't on a supervised party bus what are they going to do, go to the library on a weekend? they'll find somewhere else to drink. basements, parks, schoolyards, mcdonalds,...that's what i did.
i used to work for a party bus company that isn't around anymore due to kevin falcon's party bus police. 75% of the time the parents were at the pick up point and knew what the kids were doing and EVERY one of them said the same thing."i'd rather have my kid in a supervised environment then drunk in a park.
the biggest issue we ran into were kids that couldn't handle their booze. tey thought since they only have 2 hours on the bus they need to pound a 26er as fast as they could.
parents need to teach their kids about moderation.

and any of these companies that say they don't allow drinking on the bus are full of shit.
