A new case for the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team, this time in Langley.

The crime scene is a home on a quiet stretch of 200th Street, near 20th Avenue.

IHIT Corporal Adam Macintosh says Mounties were called to the home to check on the well-being of a resident.

When police arrived shortly after 10pm, they found a man's body -- and a marijuana grow operation.

"Sometimes right on the face of things it can appear that this was a grow rip or something to that effect. however, we always remain open until we can confirm one way or the other.  So, at this time the motive isn't clear."

Investigators are not identifying the victim.

No one is in custody.

@MichaelD_10 maybe...... BUT also just another example of 'certain types' of scum landlords sitting on large land parcels in South Langley and renting them out at VERY VERY HIGH prices to ......who?
Who can afford those high rents for moldy falling down houses......hmmmmmm........oh I dunno - maybe they are just entrepenuers?

So much for Langley being the horse capital anymore.....

An acquaintance, a fire fighter, a few years ago said "In Mission was taking down 3 grow ops a week". If that is the case then, indoor cultivation is increase the price of rental units. My daughter pays $800 a month in Abbotsford for a basement suite.
I have been saying for years indoor cannabis cultivation causes real-estate to be more valuable in Fraser valley because of prohibition.

Just another reason to end this life wrecking policy. It didn't work for booze and it's not working for pot.

I know most people think Taxation of cannabis is a big money maker but that is not the case. The reason most folks will have grown their own.
But a huge saving will be made from the money we no longer have to spend on incarceration and interdiction. Their are two two million $ RCMP helicopters going full time with their FLIR cameras looking for grow opp heat signatures. These helicopters burn Jet A @45 gals per hour
