The trial of a North Vancouver realtor accused of taking part in a gang-related kidnapping is set to start Monday in Vancouver.

Nazfar Mirhadi was one of seven people arrested in October 2011 involving the abduction of a twenty-nine-year-old man from a restaurant in Downtown Vancouver.

Sulaiman Safi was later rescued by police in Richmond.

At the time, investigators would only say the kidnapping was financially-motivated and the abductors were linked to the Red Scorpions and Independent Soldiers.

Mirhadi was charged with extortion, unlawful confinement and kidnapping.

At the time of her arrest, she was an agent for Vancouver realty and brokerage firm ABF Broadway Realty.

It seems the temptation is too great even for those with real jobs. When will we wake up and see cannabis prohibition for what it is? The government created this black market that feeds these gangs, and this black market causes more harm than marijuana.
