Abbotsford Police are on scene where a body was found on the side of the road this morning.

Constable Ian MacDonald says they got a call just after ten this morning for what was thought to be a person in distress.

He says, "Members on scene have confirmed that it appears to be a deceased person just off the roadway on Riverside Road near King Road.  We have Patrol Officers and Major Crime Unit detectives on scene and we hope to have some more information as we move forward"

Asked if the death is suspicious, MacDonald says "Well my gut tells me that this isn't a normal cicrumstance for people to come across someone that is either injured or deceased on the side of the road so certainly we are going to do what police have to do and we will begin investigating and looking for some answers."

Abbotsford police are now confirming it is the body of a woman.

The police department is consulting with the Intigrated Homicide Investigation team over who will be responsible for the investigation.

Perhaps a street worker, who has met foul play.........lots
of guys, ho should be in prison roaming our streets.

Women working the streets put themselves at great risk
    getting into a stranger's vehicle.
