It is the Chinese Lunar New Year.

Sunday marks the first day of the Year of the Snake -- said to be a prosperous and lucky year, particularly for those who are born in the year of the snake.

Tung Chan is a former CEO of S.U.C.C.E.S.S, which provides services for new Canadians.

Chan says this year is actually the Year of the Water Snake.

He says water in Chinese symbolism means wealth.

"The snake is something that is agile and flexible, and so the coming year is going to be prosperous, wealthy, and there might be some changes, but nonetheless, it's all toward good things."

Chan says generally celebrations go on for fifteen days.

As far as my history proves
the SNAKE is a bad symbol in every other historic event and experience.
Only the Chinese can fake make it into something worthy of MONEY!

    whatever that means these days........................
Watch out for the snake - they are a slippery bunch and full of venom!
