A Vancouver city councillor has responded to the city manager's blocking of her motion by hiring a lawyer.

Councillor Adriane Carr says Penny Ballem exceeded her jurisdiction when she quashed Carr's request for the financial details of a plan to pool the resources of the city's 20 volunteer run community centres.

"This is a matter of who's in charge of city hall -- the city manager? Or city council?"

Carr says she will hold a press conference on Tuesday at city hall with her lawyer to provide further information.

    The average BC citizen should take this as a good example of what to expect from nitwit leftwing politicians
    They have a grand scheme to centralize and grow government regardless of the general sentiment
    And. Dix is further left than most of them !!

      @RonB_20 I'll tell you how we got here - Mayor Moonbeam is a pretty boy and people got caught up in voting for his looks . I'm pretty sure he is going to be out on his butt after the next election
      He and Vision Vancouver have confirmed to the rest of Canada just how goofy the people in Vancouver can be!!

    This is a classic case of bureaucratic interference in the democratic process. Bureaucrats are 'servants' to those elected and to the public.

    Complete arrogance, but then that is what the NDP and Dippers always portray!

    It is about time a councilor was bold enough to do it, this dysfunctional type A personality Bellam should be forced out of City Hall and you know her record from the Health Authority in Ontario, she should have never hired for the position in the first place, a real pain in the butt to most Council members also. A local newpaper poll in Vancouver suggests this is what residents want to give Bellam the royal boot and a party to follow

    I have very little use for Adriane Carr.But on this issue,I hope she kicks some butt.Mayor Moonbeam and his Merry Band of social engineers are a complete disgrace to the concept of democracy.When ANY government is elected,it is elected to represent ALL of the people.This mayor and his minions only represent the people who voted for them.
    Now,people cannnot volunteer their free time to build something in their local communities that the socialist hoards won't sweep in to confiscate. That is totally unaccepteble left wing social engineering.It must not be allowed to stand.

    Keep in mind that Penny Ballem is Vision's hand picked city manager. Her behaviour is exactly what they wanted when they hired her, and consistent with Vision's appalling arrogance and disrespect for democracy.
