As the province is set to start rolling out new care services cards next week, the Health Minister says she's heard security concerns loud and clear.

While the BC Civil Liberties Association has asked for card implementation to be halted over major privacy concerns --  Margaret MacDiarmid says the important voice for her to listen to is the Privacy and Information Commissioner.

"She has made some recommendations to the Minister of Citizen Services which have all been accepted."

MacDiarmid says the new cards protect resident's identities better than the current care cards.

Over the next five years everyone will get the new enhanced card with an option to link it with your driver's license.

So what happens to those that loose their licenses because of bad driving habits? They will have no care card either?? How does this work???

@RandyP_10 I would imagine the same program would merge BCID. Also, it's lose. Not loose.

Isn't this the same govenment that screwed up so badly not once, but at least twice, with the 'secure' programs they insituted in the past? And that cost us taxpayers so much money? Also, wasn't some information or records sent to US companies because of a cheaper contract than here at home? And wasn't that information later found in the general garbage rather than shredded and disposed of? Do we really trust the Liberal government not to use outsiders again? Or to get the cheapest contracts for the programming? I sure as heck don't.
Does anyone remember the incidents I'm referring to? Schools is one that comes to mind.
