NDP seeks clarity on Smart Meter installation
VANCOUVER/CKNW (AM980)

1/30/2013

NDP Energy Critic John Horgan is demanding a little clarity on the smart meter front.

He says a recent opinion piece by minister responsible Rich Coleman seems to say "if you don't want one, you don't have to have one."

"I think what we need is clarity on what the official position of BC Hydro is in this new environment. If there is an opt out provision, which was suggested by another Liberal, Mr Gordan Hogg yesterday, if there is an opt out provision, let's see it. It's got to be in writing somewhere and to this point in time I haven't had anyone fulfill that request"

Coleman's been feeling the heat after making direct calls to councillors who ultimately rejected a massive new casino complex in Surrey.

He's been keeping a very low profile and not speaking to either issue.

Horgan was speaking with CKNW's Jon McComb on The World Today.

The latest news, that BC Hydro will not force you to get a dumb meter, if you don't want one is just a ploy to avoid conflict leading up to the election. That's all. After the election they'll start ramming them down our throats again, unless an opt out program is installed. Now is the time to corner your MLA (and hopefuls) and force them to take a stand on an opt out program for your privacy, health and financial freedom from dumb meters.

The dippers are blind as a bat! Must have something to do with the foggy rose coloured glasses they wear!

@StephenG_3 you are referring to the BC Liberals, right?

NDP seeks clarity? That's rich. Don't they see that's what we seek from them?

@Ron_26 I would be satisfied if any of them spoke clearly and actually meant exactly what they said.

@Ron_26 NDP seeks clarity is an oxymoron. When will their maybe/maybe not responses end and result in taking a stand.
