White Rock Mounties says a potentially dangerous situation is under control.
The RCMP say they were tipped off about a man in the area who might have some extremely dangerous chemicals.
Emergency response, the integrated forensic unit, and a squad specializing in explosives, chemical, biological, and nuclear materials all responded.
They seized chemicals at a home in the 15-hundred block of Prospect Avenue in White Rock.
34 year old Hamish Sutherland is in custody facing at least one charge but more could be coming.
Police are now testing the chemicals.
The man arrested for possibly having explosive chemicals in a White Rock home has done something similar in the past.
Hamish Sutherland was handed two years probation in 2011 after being convicted of intending to cause an explosion and possession of explosive materials with the intent to use them.
In years past Sutherland was responsible for twice having his apartment building in New Westminster evacuated due to having dangerous chemicals.
He has also been banned for life from having any weapons.
