BC Auditor General may land same job back home
VICTORIA/CKNW (AM980)

It seems BC's Auditor-General might have another job lined up if he decides not to accept a contract extension in this province.

The provincial government is still waiting for John Doyle to decide whether to accept a two year reappointment when his current six year term ends in October, and Doyle has said he's in no hurry to give an answer.

In the meantime, ABC News in Australia is reporting Doyle is a leading contender for a job there.

"It's an important appointment, the Auditor-General is responsible for scrutinizing the government's use of taxpayers' money....now it's understood the lead candidate to fill the role is a man named John Doyle."

Doyle came to BC after serving as Deputy Auditor-General in western Australia;  no word when a decision on the Victoria job may be made.

    That sounds 'a bit gone'

This is Straight from the Austalian Slang Dictionary:
Doyle Bludger : somebody on social assistance when unjustified

hmmmmm - pretty fitting i'd say and now he seems PISSED at our current government - now that will be productive and unbiased paid work!

@speakup Also, considering you didn't know he was an Aussie and don't seem to realize an election is coming up in which the government that turfed him is likely to lose, I'd say he obviously knows much more about BC than you.

If he does not stay, it shows that he had no intentions of staying in B.C. after his six year contract expired.

mr. doyle should give our liberal government a royal salute with his middle finger and go back home. how can one be given the ag position and then tie his hands if his snooping gets to personal..

@BOBF_5970 That was the most plausible reason for the liebrals turfing Doyle , He was getting to close for their welfare. But by doing what they did all they accomplished was to insert another foot into their already overloaded mouths.
As for not being from BC perhaps that was a plus as he didn't have anything personal to gain from any particular party or gang.

Who cares where he's from. Did he do a good job?
Do british columbians tend to be less qualified when working for their province?

The current provincial government has only offered to extend his contract for another 2 years. I'm betting that he'll take an offer elsewhere, probably for a minimum 5 years with similar pay and benefits, because he's worth it. He's done a great job so far, holding the government accountable for their indiscretions. A sad day for the taxpayers of BC if he moves on, but he deserves better than the way he has been treated here.

Sounds like he wasn't very happy about being here - we had to pay to fly him home all the time!!!

What do you think the chances are the $60k taxpayers spent on all his travel home had something to do with him lining up his next gig down under?

@PetterA A guy like Doyle really frightens you - I guess if I were as a staunch Liberal supporter, with many secrets in the closet, I too would be frightened.
