The Canucks are playing coy when it comes to rumors of free beer at the home opener against Anaheim Saturday.

They say many of the opening night and weekend initiatives have been announced, but there are some surprises in store for Saturday.

Ottawa will be offering their of-age fans a complementary cold one when the Senators take to the ice.

The BC Liquor Distribution Branch has reportedly said Rogers’s Arena is legally allowed to hand out free alcohol, and there are controls in place to make sure no minors get served.

Director of Team Operations and Media Relations Ben Brown says they're looking forward to finally dropping the puck.

That about says it all if fans can have their frustration and anger placated with free beer

Canuck fans deserve to be treated like morons and ripped off by the NHL

@ChrisM_18 Wonder if the paying fans enjoyed that one? That would called adding injury to insult!,

If the Canucks REALLY want to give their fans a special treat, then maybe they could try winning a game, especially one at home.

But don't hold your breath, folks.

the Canucks have done their job. Their job much to the disappointment of fans is not to win the Stanley cup, but to put butts in seats for the NHL/team owners and sell merch. They have done this very well.
