Man in custody after police chase
METRO VANCOUVER/CKNW (AM980)

12/28/2012

One man is in custody after a car chase through Surrey, Burnaby and New Westminster.

The chase apparently started after a vehicle backed into a police car and then took off over the Pattullo Bridge.

During the chase, a second police vehicle was also struck along the Burnaby/Coquitlam border.

The officers were not injured.

The vehicle then crashed into a garage at a house off Columbia Street in New Westminster.

The van had been stolen and the driver was wanted on a Canada wide warrant for parole violations.

So he was wanted on a parole violation and now has caused considerable property damage in his attempt to avoid arrest

If our court system had any backbone he should go back to jail for the full duration of his original sentence plus extra time for the damage he caused- but this is Canada and we are still sufferring the effects of Trudeau's liberalism - so this con will be celebrating New Years on the street

@ChrisM_18 seems you are very well informed on how the some...(like you)...people thinks the system works.

This has nothing to do with judges, nor the government, past or present. It has everything to do with the PAROLE BOARD, an appointed, not accountable group of individuals. They have no oversight, and many times they make decisions on public safety when releasing a convict on very little information. They make a guess at best in many cases. To make it WORSE...many times ONLY one person makes the decision to release a convict, in which case the decision is based heavily on thier own personal beliefs. That is how the parole board works. It's wrong...but how the system works.

Blame past Liberal governments for this, and demand that parole officers are ELECTED, (NOT APPOINTED!) are are held accountable, just like the people we elect to make the rules for the rest of us.
