Employees at public liquor stores have been asked to take down Christmas decorations after bugs were found in them at one location.

Oliver Rohls, a spokesman with the BC Government and Service Employees Union, says the order came down this morning from the main office as a precaution after insects were found in a container.

“I don't know how many stores are impacted by this directive, but I'm presuming it's any store that had started putting up Christmas decorations has been asked to withdraw them temporarily."

Rohls wouldn't say which location had the bugs, only saying it was in Metro Vancouver.

He adds federal health officials have been called in to investigate.

Oh, the Humanity !!! Say it isn't so !! Not an actual real live insect !!! They should shut the whole store down........ and all the others, just to be on the safe side.

@WilliamS_3961 Yes and everyone going into the stores should be sprayed with bug spray 'just in case'.....So Canadian - one thing happens and they change everything for everyone and everything

Brought my Christmas decorations out of storage, and found a bug..okay a spider...in one of the boxes. Had to burn the whole house down. You know, cause storage space bugs are evil and all.
Seriously though, unless there is something special about these "bugs" that were found, it's kind of a silly issue.

I assume the decorations were manufactured in China? With all Schnookums's visits to China, while she was initiating her new consulate job, maybe she did B.C. a favour, and picked out the best decorations, always having British Columbia's best interests in mind. Toss in the miners, and this province is turning into quite the conundrum. Oh, I forgot, oil for the pipeline which would go to China to make plastic, to send back to us via Walmart?

@RegA [deleted] Typical uneducated left wing garbage. Is so far off topic makes me wonder if this person is capable of being unbrainwashed.

Ron and Denis, At leaST WE NOW KNOW WHO ARE

At least we now know who the liberals are in the crowd. I am not a card carrying NDP member, who spent the last 13 years of my working life negotiating against unions, and was successful in putting an end to the BCGoofs trying to raid the union I dealt with, most frequently.
On Mr. Dix, to you Ron, he is at least a domestic "BUG". Enjoy the election night celebrations, you 2.

Sorry, We now know who the liberals are in the crowd. I fought against unions, including the BC Goofs. And Mr. Dix, to you, Ron, is at least A DOMESTIC bug.

This isn't a liberal, socialist, union or whatever issue. It's a crappy product issue. They're massed produced, stored in dumb places and sure enough some liquor stores got the bad batch.

One argues that it's unions producing crap products, but the same argument can be said for management cutting costs and ordering crap supplies.

Don't you guys have some political forum somewhere you can bicker at each other? You are ruining this wonderfully buggy Christmas story.
