Liberal riding association for Abbotsford-South resigns over Plecas nod
ABBOTSFORD/CKNW (AM980)

The recent nomination of the BC Liberals' candidate in Abbotsford-South has drawn the ire of the riding association.

The entire board of directors has resigned, saying Darryl Plecas' nomination was made without their input.

Past-president Stephen Evans says the board had another candidate lined up, Abbotsford city councillor Moe Gill, but the Liberal Party’s committee passed him by, and Plecas was acclaimed.

"I’m deeply disappointed in the leadership of the party. And that's why I and the riding association have resigned. Whether we keep our membership or not, that's still in question."

Evans claims if the party would not put Plecas up to a standard nomination process, then how can party members expect him to stand up against the riding's MLA, John van Dongen, next spring?

Plecas says he is surprised by the situation, "I was under the understanding that I was the only person who got their papers in and that Mo Gill was running in Abbotsford-Mission."

Furthermore, Plecas says none of the board members have spoken with him. He says he is confident the resignations will not affect his formal acclimation Thursday night.

If Plecas nomination was made without their input, who put
    his nomination forward?

That is, who in Abbotsford is working, behind the scenes, to
try to ensure a Liberal win in Abbotsford South?

I say, "who's who/Liberal supporters" in Abbotsford did
not have faith in Moe Gill to win Abbotsford South riding for them.

    Now what?

@bctaxpayer Your comment concerning an elected official and minster is very offense, and even more disgusting in reference to another human being. Not only have you resorted to a form of bullying, of which, based upon the recent news and tragic events as a result of on-line bullying, you have offended likely 50% of the population who may not conform to your ideal weight measure and expectations. If you are going to take the time to comment, and this is a good forum, avoid the name calling. Your point and feedback should stand-up for themselves.

What Schnookums and her merry band has done, is waste 15 million of OUR money and done 150 million worth of irreversible damage, so for those not voting Liberal, the 15 million is a bargain to end the corruptness and see their tail ends leave Victoria. Then Scnookums can be appointed the Canadian Consulate in Beijing, Coleman can go to work for the LCB or ICBC, and the rest can maybe find jobs at Waste Management on the sorting line, where they belong.

@RegA-well as bad as "snookums" is "dorkums" (as in Adrian "dorkums" DIx) will be worse. The 1990's provide plenty of evidence for those who care to look into it. Some famous lines: "we may have spent the money poorly, but at least we spent it" and "remember, we are the government and government can do what it wants". And, make no mistake, Dix was front and centre in those days.

The reality is that politics is for kids-people having the same kind of hissy fits they had in high school. The problem is that the economic issues we face are real, and the kind of people standing for election are not up to the job. Being on a municipal council is just about the worst experience a person can bring to provincial politics, regardless of political party.

Amid all these problems with the other partties, New Democrats will not tell us what their policies will be for growing the economy. They will not tell us where they will get the money to pay for the big wage increases demanded by the public sector. Utter and complete silience, unless it is to oppose every economic development proposal that is made. I will take some of the criticism of the Liberals and Conservatives more seriously when the NDP has the guts to disclose where they stand.

Back to have not status by 2017-that is where BC is heading with Dorkums as premier.

@Jartann Wow - The only way any party could do worse for BC than the camera queens liebrals is perhaps if they agreed to handle nuclear waste from the USA , Russia and Japan reactors and build the facility in the middle of Vancouver.

@Jartann You have to admit that in the last 4 years the Liberals have not advanced the interest of BC. Also, they have not been open and transparent about issues that concern British Columbians, and have outright deceived them (HST).

Many of the points you make are directed to NDP incompetence, yet their effect is diminished by similar misconduct or deception as you attribute to the NDP.

I dispute your bold assertion that there will be tax increases - that is simply a distortion, however, I fully agree that it is time for the NDP to tell us what their economic policies will be to grow the economy - failing which your tax increase theory becomes increasingly concerning.

Also, the public allegations of corruption, dishonesty, deception and nepotism by the Liberals need to be resolved for them to gain any credibility into the future - regardless of historic concerns and economic policy of the NDP

Darryl Plecas is related to Rich Coleman, that`s one issue, the other issue is..

Moe Gill helped raise all the campaign funds for that riding, also, Plecas lives in a neighbouring riding.

If Plecas is a superstar, have a nomination contest. what is he afraid of?

@Jartaan.....Its a little early to be drinking Red wine(WHINE)..

YOU WILL HAVE PLENTY OF TIME TO WINE(WHINE)....

    After the May 2013 election

Jartann: You forgot to mention also that if the NDP form government, they will be voted out in 2017. Jartann, I really believe that a lot of these negative comments are actually from the $24.00 per hour employees from around the province working in NDP MLA offices.
I can only laugh at these negative comments because not one of these people would ever take back a former spouse from a previous divorce to re-create the nightmare but are wlling to do it with government.
All of these commentators, always read on and check consumer affairs when making their own purchases and decisions, but don't have the brains to read the consumer affairs of past and present NDP blunders across Canada.
Now that the federal NDP party is back in third place, they will have to once again find a leader to replace MuClair. M I C K E Y M O U S E, MICKEY MOUSE!

bctaxpayer: You have all the rights to make your point, but lay all cards on the table. All cards are laid out in the court room, so do it with your comments. The $15 million advertising commercials was also done by former NDP premier Ujjal Dosanjh. Both sets of commericials do not mention party affilliation.
The same type of commericials are also being presented by the Federal government. Once again, no party affilliation mentioned.
The readers are fed up with PROPAGANDA, and if you cannot comment with facts and figures, cease your replies immediately if not sooner.

      @joes_2868 1 It is clear that the federal ads are paid for by the federal conservative party - not the tax payer;
      2. The NDP did advertise with tax payers money - it was wrong then and wrong now; one of the reasons they were turfed in 2001. Liberals need to remember that;
      3. People know the NDP had issues in 2001, - most of those members are long gone but we continue to have the same group of MP's who voted for the HST -
      4. The objection to the Liberals is their lack of transparency and their obvious inability to tell the truth to tax payers

grantG: Cease comments about MLA's living in other ridings. Doug Routley was the NDP MLA in the Nanaimo-Cowichan riding. In 2009, part of the riding was split into a new riding called Cowichan Valley riding.
To make sure that he could win the election,Doug moved to Cedar, B.C. to be in the Nanaimo-Cowichan riding. Immediately after winning the election for the riding, he moved back to downtown Duncan, B.C.
He commutes to his Ladysmith and Nanaimo offices. Doug tells lies like like the readers consultant, Ken280, our man with a briefcase 50 miles away from home, trying to beat Mike Farnworth's blood pressure readings.
Why doe he tell lies. He stands up in the legislative demanding that more logs are required for the mills in his riding where he resides with friends and neighbours. HE LIVES IN DUNCAN, B.C. WHICH IS IN THE COWICHAN VALLEY RIDING.
He complains about raw log exports but DRIVES A HONDA VEHICLE.
Your buddy Grant, Ken280, has still not told us what make of vehicle Jim SinClair drives. If it is foreign, then he has some major explaining to do about raw log exports and ferries built in Germany.
Ken280 has also failed to tell us readers why Jim SinClair has not made his comments known on the EnBridge pipeline. One good point that Jim has is that he is into job creation. With Jim sitting on the fence on this one, could it be that he and Adrian Dix are not seeing eye to eye anymore.
