Conflict commissioner steps back from BC Rail probe
VANCOUVER/CKNW (AM980)

Amid growing pressure, conflict commissioner Paul Fraser has excused himself from the BC Rail probe, and called in his counterpart from Saskatchewan to carry out the investigation.

Last week independent MLA John van Dongen demanded a probe by the conflict commissioner, sending Fraser extensive files about whether Christy Clark was in a conflict during the sale of BC Rail in 2003.

But a day later it was learned Fraser's son works in the government communications office.

So here we are, how many years later???? So they find her guilty what is the worse case out come. A finger waged at her and told do not do it again. Win lose or draw nothing ever comes out of this crap. What is the point really?

@JimP_5079 If you do not know what the point is why do you comment about it?you must be working for the liberals to say such a statement. If she is found guilty it will be very hard for the others involved to hide from the ramifications of this case.
We the concerned citizenry in this BC Rail scandal want answers? what was the purpose of the secrets about the details and the medias reluctance to report and investigate? To pay the bills for the ones who plea guilty the day top officials are ready to testify under oath ?we want the people with perceived perception of corruption to be held accountable and this time nothing short as with the rioters that CC screamed held to the fullest extent of the law put behind bars if found guilty,we will stand for nothing less.

He did the right thing. Too bad he did not realize immediately that he should do this.

JimP: Ignore Ken280, he is our local consultant who has a briefcase and is 50 miles away from home. Ken's motto, is that when he says he heard something real important, he says he heard it from a reliable source. That source is the guy he just met. Ken is so excited these days. He just can't sit still waiting for the results of the provincial election on May 14, 2013 at around 8:45 pm.

@joes_2868 Ken280 simply asks the questions asked by British Columbian's.

      1. Why did the BC Liberals pay for Basi/Virk legal fees?
      2. Why have they refused to call an inquiry into BC Rail given the public concern?
  6. bctaxpayer posted on 11/13/2012 04:16 PM
We wonder why it took soooooooooo long for risky Clark to say that there is a deffinite conflict.Risky would love to have Fraser to stay,no doub't.It would be to her benefit all the wat to the bank.

Garp: 1. Why is it that Jim SinClair's B.C. Federation of Labour transfers money to the NDP bank account so that the NDP can write a pay cheque for Moe Sihota? How come Carole James did not inform her caucus about this before it was leaked out.
    2. Why is that Glen Clark did not take the advice given by Holyman, the world leader in fast cat ferries, not to build these fast cat ferries?
    1. Garp posted on 11/14/2012 10:47 AM
@joes_2868 Your efforts to deflect public concern will not work; Liberals will only regain public confidence if they demonstrate their legitimacy by calling an inquiry into BC Rail, and Basi-Virk legal fees.

In reply please don't quote Ricky Nelson songs - they are as worn out as your logic!

GARP: Still avoiding the issue. Once again the readers want a clear answer from you NOW! WHY WOULD YOU NEVER TAKE BACK A FORMER SPOUSE FROM A PREVIOUS DIVORCE TO RE-CREATE THE NIGHTMARE, BUT ARE WILLING TO DO IT WITH A NDP GOVERNMENT? The NDP past governments of B.C. have had enough scandals with Adrian Dix, Mike Farnworth, Glen Clark, Robert Strachen, Elizabeth Cull, Andrew Petter, Dave Stupich, Dave Zirnhelt, Carole James, Ujjal Dosanjh, Mike Harcourt, Moe Sihota, Dave Barrett, Joy MacPhail and Graham Lea. Now another one is on the way. Brian Topp is coming in to be the B.C. NDP campaign manager. He is well known like Adrian Dix for whitewashing legal documents.
    1. Garp posted on 11/14/2012 12:06 PM
@joes_2868 The issue is BC Rail and BasiVirk legal fees - and the public outcry for an inquiry, not whether I would rekindle a failed relationship with an estranged spouse - let's talk issue, not foolishness.

Also word of caustion - your accusations of "whitewashing legal documents" may be defamatory, if untrue. Are you prepared to make them in your own name?

Garp: I've come to the conclusion that you work in a NDP MLA's office. Just sitting looking at that computer screen replying to comments that offend your party. $24.00 per hour drinking coffee and donuts. Unbelievable!

@joes_2868 Is that your job description? Believable!

Garp: More on Brian Topp. Go to google, and type in "NDP LEADERSHIP BRIAN TOPP WENT TO SASKATCHEWAN TO LEARN POLITICS-TORONTO STAR". Read it completely.

@joes_2868 So what? The article says he's an ambitious politician - like that is a surprise - that's the nature of the beast. Is Clark or Campbell any different? It says nothing about whitewashing court documents, as you allege - only reference is to a legislative report - entirely different type of document - to which he put a political spin. Of course no one in the Liberal Party does that!

Garp: Finished your last assignment yet? Truth hurts does it?
While we have been going back and forth, how about your views on the 85 MLA's and their expenses that were put online recently.
Total seats in the house is 85, 46 Liberal, 36 NDP, and 3 Independent. 52.10% is NDP expenses, 3.54% is Independent expenses, and 44.36% is LIberal expenses.
Why does the opposition party NDP have more expenses with less members. The location of the riding has no barrier in expenses. Example, Scott Fraser, NDP MLA for Alberni-Pacific on Vancouver Island is $31,157 and Katrine Conroy, NDP MLA for Kootenay West is $30,482.
Out of the top 15 on the list of 85, the NDP have 11 names on the list. Example, Robin Austin, MLA for Skeena has expenses of $53,606, Norm MacDonald, MLA for Columbia-Revelstoke has expenses of $45,332, and Doug Donaldson, MLA for Stikine has expenses of $42,678.
Expenses for B.C. cabinet ministers that do a lot of travel are Christy Clark with expenses at $39,612, Shirley Bond at $27,323, Rich Coleman at $21,938, Mike DeJong at $23,450, Terry Lake at $27,575, and Steve Thomson at $19,809.
Adrian Dix, Leader of the opposition who has to do a lot of travel because it is expected of him, has $32,997, and yet some of his colleagues, are pretty high up there like Harry Lali at $32,829 and Nicholas Simons at $30,841.
Why does the opposition NDP have so much more in expenses than the B.C. government, which have cabinet ministers with lower totals than opposition MLA's.
Unbelievable, when the NDP complain about everything and anything under the sun until it affects themselves.
Your job Garp, is that if you accept the job is to find out for our readers, some concrete answers as to why this is happening. Make sure to check over your spelling when you decide to blow more gaskets. This tape will self destruct in 5 seconds.

@joes_2868 Why don't you address the substantive issue of BC Rail and Basi Virk fees? Support me in requesting an inquiry - that is the beginning of the road to potential re-election.

To do otherwise raises more suspicion - doesn't anyone in the Liberal Camp get that?
