The Corporation of Delta is in a battle with Translink over pay parking.

Translink wants to charge drivers to use park-and-ride lots in Tsawwassen and Ladner, but Mayor Lois Jackson says that's not fair.

"I don't think it's fair that we should be asking our people to pay when they've already donated the land."

Plus, she says Delta is under-served by Translink.

"Bus service is very poor, so why would we have anybody charge them additional?"

The transportation authority operates 13 park-and-rides in Metro Vancouver.

Staff hope to raise $2.2 million by charging at the free lots and raising the prices at some of the existing pay lots.

And that is why you do not gift land to Translink, you lend or rent out to them.

It seems like the terms. Translink and moneygrab are synonymous !

Sooner or later Translink will realize that moneygrubbing from car owners will mean no more cars to moneygrub from....... and then where will they moneygrub ??

Translink is a total disaster, they cannot get anything right. Clearly not only the senior managers are incompetent but also the entire middle and low level management are ineffective. The entire Translink management needs to be fired and replace with people of some competency.

Unbelievable! - Discourage people from using transit through fees. These guys are running around looking through every cupboard to find ways to raise revenue - maybe just terminate services to redundant managers.

How many Translink managers have a company car paid for by Translink? When you are being paid that kind of moola, shouldn't you get your own car to drive at your expense?

So let's see if I get this right... the one's making too much money and underperforming get company cars ( that is if they do receive cars ) while the poor slob who is barely making ends meet gets to ride a dirty and unsafe transit system that is about to raise it's rates?

Give the managers a 3 zone bus pass and tell them to use that to get to work and to use it during work for meetings, etc. If they expect us to use the bus and Skytrain, then why isn't it good enough for them?
