Unionized workers at BC Place will be going on strike Monday morning.

BC Government and Service Employees Union Spokesperson Karen Tankard says the workers have been without a contract since May, and are taking action after talks didn't go anywhere last week.

"The main sticking point is job security. There is work that goes on in BC Place that is being contracted out to private contractors that our members believe they should be doing. They're worried about their jobs going forward."

No events at the stadium are expected to be affected by the strike.

Job Security, should not be permitted as such promotes a lazy attitude by workers.

Wow ,,, Ignorance is bliss ,,Ken and Stephen you should look into things before you pontificate. BC Place is a good employer and treat staff fairly well , staff are very motivated and work hard. Most are part time and hold multiple jobs to survive. They just want more of the opprotunnity instead of outside contractors getting the work. And if the Libs' stopped raising the price of everything , Transit, Medical ,,etc etc maybe they would settle for no increase. Hopefully your employer is not doing that to you ,,, but you may live in your Moms' basement for all I know ?

@AlexK Libs do not raise transit fees. TransLink does. But, federally and municipally, those governments need to be credited for increasing rates, fees and taxes as well.
