Rioter escapes jail time

The latest Stanley Cup rioter to be sentenced has received no jail time.


20-year-old Rag Gu Rock-Gue Kim of Kelowna pleaded guilty to taking part in a riot back in July.

 
He has now been handed a nine-month conditional sentence, to be served in the community, as well as 15 months' probation.

So far, about three dozen adults who admitted to their roles in the riot have been sentenced.


The first one to go to trial, after pleading not guilty, is set to do so in early February.

    It's too bad that more of these rioters didn't serve prison time or at least get hundreds of community service considering what they've done to our community. A conditional sentence is too soft for these criminals.

    Ahhhh, I see the courts are really making an example of these thugs to show everyone if there is another riot you`d not wanna be charged with our judicial system...........WHAT A JOKE!!!!

    I have to admit that I have lost interest in this saga. Thanks to our gutless legal system , the outcome of every case is the same - a stern warning and a slap on the wrist.
    There was another story recently that one of the convicted rioters had been arrested for breaking the conditions of her conditional sentence ...... Surprise surprise .... The punks just laugh at our legal system and do what ever they please knowing that there are no consequences

      @ChrisM_18 maybe we should demand a minimum jail sentence for anyone convicted of a criminal offence; Harper would probably go for it
