Boundary-Similkameen M-L-A John Slater thinks he's still  a good fit even if the Liberals don't.

Slater quit the party yesterday to sit as an independent after learning the party wasn't supporting his re-election bid.

He told CKNW's Bill Good this morning he will still run in the May election as an independent.

Slater  admits he's had issues mixing alcohol with prescription drugs, but says that's behind him, and thinks there's more to it than that

"Since when did the BC Liberals ever turf an MLA for having one beer too many."

Slater says he's been outspoken,  and the party didn't like it.

"The whole issue is their lack of trust in me to you know, there's been a lot  of um, lot of times when the grand pooh-bahs in Victoria didn't like it when I spoke up in caucus against policies that negatively affect my constituents."

He wouldn't elaborate, citing caucus privacy.

Good for him - we need to hjave options for voters. Who are sick of the Liberals but know. Better than to vote in the NDP

@ChrisM_18 Yea sure "ChrisM_18. And if the Liberals had accepted his as a candidate, you would be the first person on here to aks them why they have a pill pushing alcoholic on their slate.I agree that voters desrve more options. But in the real world, the NDP would exploit this man's apparent "personal problems".In fact, this man running as an independent is the NDP's dream come true.If they divide those who are against them into smalller groups, they win by default.

ChrisM_18: Now if we can get our readers consultant, Ken280, a man with a briefcase 50 miles away from home with a prescription for water pills in the briefcase for high blood pressure thinking this way, progress will be made.

John you have made a intelligent choice here as the corrupt BC lie beral's will be sitting on the back benches. It appears that risky Clark you know the photo op queen won't even win her own riding, you can bet on that all the way to the bank.

@bctaxpayer Sorry to disappoint, but she will probably win her riding. It will be a closer race to the Premier's seat than one would believe.

bctaxpayer: How come all of you NDP'er's have high blood pressure? What ever happens, we know that on May 14, 2013, Christy Clark will win her riding of Vancouver-Point Grey and we can take that one to the bank.
In the 2009 provincial election, the NDP won Burnaby-Deer Lake with a margin of 3.1%, Cariboo North with a margin of 3.6%, Coquitlam-Maillardville with a margin of 3.3%, Fraser-Nicola with a margin of 6.4%, Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows with a margin of 1.3%, Saanich South with a margin of 1.9%, and Stikine with a margin of 5.2%. over the B.C. Liberals.

Your NDP has do some major campaign work in these ridings that they barely won.

The reader's consultant, Ken280, our man with a briefcase 50 miles away from home would have had his children GROUNDED FOR A MONTH WHILE GROWING UP, if they came home with these kind of %'s on their school report cards.

@speakup Sounds like he has all right stuff to be appointed as a high Commissioner by Harper to somewhere????

TONYB_0924: What about yourself for a Harper position? You are two faced and another one that believes in the hip pocket being first. You would grab the position as soon as once was offered.
It looks like your blood pressure has boiling problems too!
