Vancouver uses recycled material to pave streets

The City of Vancouver is showing off a new, green material to pave our streets.

The city is experimenting with a new blend of asphalt as it paves a stretch of Kingsway near Slocan.

General manager of engineering services Peter Judd says the asphalt is mixed with plastic from items in household blue bins.

"It’s a real win, win, win.  One, you save on greenhouse gases, you're putting to use materials out of the blue box system, and you're actually reducing the amount of vapour that's emitted into the air from the asphalt because it's cooler as well."

He adds this new method brings the city one step closer to becoming the greenest city in the world.

And as the roadway is gradually worn down where do the tiny bits of plastic go ??? Dust in the wind ?

Seriously - how much closer to pure BS can you get ? Did any one lok into the mechanical energy required to shred the plastic ? Did anyone consider how durable this material is at low termperature ? Did anyone consider where the degraded/worn down material gets to ?
Sounds to me like Mayor Moonbeam's staff are being pushed to grasp at plastic straws !

Think of the savings they could come up with if they figure a way to use political BS as pavement.
