Amanda Todd's mother says she's 'very upset' she wasn't invited to the province's anti-bullying summit this week.

Education Ministry officials say Carol Todd was not invited to the summit.

Carol Todd said on Twitter she was 'very upset' at this, and said 'they thought my presence might upset some of the students present.'

A ministry spokesman says staff were concerned of the ongoing impact of Amanda's suicide on the kids and teens attending.

He said a 'representative' would be sent in her place, and that the Education Minister would meet with her after.

Carol Todd has told the Vancouver Sun she didn't want to speak at the event, but just listen -- especially since the Premier has said Amanda's death is one of the main reasons she wanted to hold such a summit.

She should have been 1st on the list. Once again Clark using whatever means necessary no matter how shameful her constant political posturing. Clark would not want any of the spotlight taken from her of course.

Where was mommy when this kid continued on EVIL facebook?
Sounds like facebook was the start and end of her sad young life!
    NOW the mommy wants in?
The kid changed 3 schools but kept the same facebook page.......
Am I the ONLY one who sees an issue with this?

@speakup I'm with you, I've wondered myself just what the parents did? Computers are a want not a need! I also dont understand why kids need their phones in the classroom. Have phone lockers at school. More often is the case that parents are letting these devices be the baby sitter so the parents have time for their own shenanigans on the internet.

Although she didn't want to speak, I'm just wondering if Ms Todd's "invitation" would have made this event about Amanda's tragedy? This is a global problem and I'm glad the gathering took place no matter who got the ball rolling.
CTV national news announced the summit as successful.
