Smart Meter Ruling

A group opposed to the installation of BC Hydro Smart meters has been dealt a setback by the Province's highest court.

A Saltspring Island resident (Andrea Collins) and "Citizens for Safe Technology Society" were seeking leave to appeal a decision by the BC Utilities Commission rejecting their challenge to the smart meters.

The BC Court of Appeal has ruled the applicants - who believe the smart meters pose a health risk - "had not raised a substantial question to be argued."

Hydro's Cindy Verschoor says the decision confirms that Hydro was operating within it's mandate when the smart metering technology was selected.

Opponents say they'll continue to fight the installation of the devices with a class action lawsuit before the Human Rights Tribunal.

Where do these people find the time and money to go to court? Its one thing if you are Bill Vanderscam looking to stir the political pot (and you have the millions behind you to do so) but how does Average Joe citizen have time (and money) to go to court and file appeals. Get a life and move on.

The charter of rights allows that citizens have the right to not be subjected to harm or health risks. A class 2b carcinogen is a health risk.
This latest study that was in the MSM appears to prove their point as to the dangers from emf waves.
I quote the first part as it is very lengthyand uses big words that coleman and Kendall probably wouldn't under stand.
"Cellphone radiation exposure during pregnancy impacts fetal brain
    > development and may cause hyperactivity, Yale School of Medicine
    > researchers say.
    > Dr. Hugh Taylor, a medical professor and chief of Yale’s Department of
    > Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences, co-authored a recent
    > study to probe the impact of cellphone exposure on pregnancies." Smart meter opponents are right.

@miltw And what's the key word in the sentence??? Cell phone radiation MAY cause hyperactivity......When you think about every toxic item in the world today smart meter radiation that isn't even constant is far less significant than the fumes that a pregnant woman would breath in from car traffic.

Every penny and every minute of work is donated and volunteered by British Columbians who have done their research. This is just the beginning of the battles for democracy and human rights in British Columbia. The fight against wireless smart meters is a world-wide fight.

The issue is not "just" about health problems caused by untested wireless technologies. There are many other problems:

    - enormous costs of programs to replace analog/digital meters that still work
    - higher utility bills
    - severe & permanent health effects from wireless transmissions
    - risks of fire
    - invasion of personal privacy from collection of BIG data by smart meters
    - loss of personal security and security of provincial/state/national/worldwide smart grids

It's very interesting that the uninformed general population as well as biased media reporters (the only ones "allowed" to write about this topic) are the people who have to drop to low-level bullying by calling concerned citizens all kinds of names. As if name-calling is going to stop people from speaking out about such a serious, non-consentual experiment that is being unleashed upon the world population.

How many research scientists and groups of doctors have to release news alerts about ramifications from this untested technology? As Dr. Oberfeld has stated, if the smart meter/grid agenda is allowed to continue, 50% of the world's population will develop electrosensitivity/electrohypersensitivity to some degree. Right now, at least 5% of people have EXTREME ES/EHS.

If 50% of people are made sick by wireless technologies, how will our economies continue if people are too sick to work? And if we kill off the bees (which is already happening), we are doomed. No bees, no food.

What happened to the Precautionary Principle? Oh, right. Nothing matters except $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

CBC did a report on smart meters. They hired an engineer and findings were that radiation from cell phones and smart meters are equal. Then why dosen't cell phone owners throw the cell phones into the garbage.
Smart meters is the way to go. It will elimnate the need for meter readers. My smart meter has been installed and I have no complaints billing wise. These cases of where the bills have gone to extremes is because these people that read meters are going to lose their jobs, so they hand in wrong meter readings, thus stirring the pot a little to show that smart meters are a bad thing.

Last year i was told my a fellow who read the meters that the plan was to charge people extra in high use time periods

So if you have little children if you cant afford to feed them at 5 pm (because of higher energy costs) then they will just have to wait til 10 pm for their food

    Oiveh!

The operative word in the study was not may but did cause noticeable defects in the pregnant test mice. The study is very long so i didn't post the complete item here. Smart data meters will have to transmit continuously to each other because the are all combined into a mesh network. If they are so safe why were they never tested by CSA or UL . They cause fires, health risks and information/identity theft and are not needed.

The Clean Energy Act does not say we must have wireless transmitters that gather and share personal information on our homes. There are no benefits realized from these things to anyone but the corporations. A recent report by the Electric Power Research Institute, an industry group, said there is no energy reduction or cost savings due to smart meters or grid. That means there is no reason for these things which endanger our homes and families in many ways. If you don't care about health (which you should) what about fire risk? These things are cheaply made with plastic, and have several design flaws which electrical engineers say can cause fires. Why should we have to live with the threats posed by these things? The battle continues -- this one just one route. There are many more, all funded by many thousands of people across the province to prize their rights and freedoms.

@MaryOzN Excellent and no one even mentioned the Italian fellow who won his cancer case caused by EMF .
Also the Sage Report and on and on.
All the hydro talking heads have left is name calling because they are losing to truth.

People. why does everyone focus on the tinfoil hat thing? Im sure BC hydro actually loves the press on the tinfoil hats. Its time to focus on the real reason BC Hydro wants to install smart meters and forget about cell signals. I feel they want to install smart meters so they can selectively bill, and make huge profits. so lets grasp the real sinister reason and work on that. By the way.... My "No trespassing Corix" sign has worked they did my neighborhood and didnt change mine. And by the way our power doesnt come on any quicker during an outage.
