New-look Nordstrom Pacific Centre
VANCOUVER/CKNW (AM980)

9/17/2012

We're now getting a better idea of what one of Vancouver's less attractive landmarks is going to look like following a dramatic facelift.

When Sears is replaced by Nordstrom in the spring of 2015 it will be a very different building.

The building's shell will remain the same, but that's about it.

The modern design will feature a lot of glass, with most of the building exterior replaced with windows.

The new department store was designed by the same architect responsible for the Fairmont Pacific Rim, the Shaw tower and Shangri-la.

@speakup You are living in an idealist fantasy land. It is an indisputable fact that money, i.e. investment, makes the world go around. As far as I know Norstrom will pay their employees in canadian dollars and so will the contruction and architect firms employed for the renovation. They in turn will spend these dollars on other things that keep the economy going. Sounds like you would prefer to leave the space empty (one less reason for people to go downtown) or wait for a Canadian to invest in the space; such as who .....no-one is steppling forward
