With the BC government crying poverty and talking about austerity, does it make sense to pay a retired civil servant 250-thousand dollars a year to provide advice?

That's what NDP house leader John Horgan is asking about George MacMinn, the retired clerk of the legislature is being paid five hundred thousand dollars over two years for his parliamentary expertise, but Horgan says with no fall session this year,  that contract makes no sense.

"The house sat for 46 days this spring and if Mr.MacMinn was there every day, that's 250 thousand dollars for 46 days work is probably more than the market could bear and it's my view that the position is no longer required"

Horgan says he voted against the contract when it was presented to the Legislative Assembly Management Committee  and has now asked the committee to look at getting out of the deal.

Just when you though "what more could the crooks really do" Fat Face Snookie is back at it the corrupt little bucket a$$ creep!

DeJong announces the province is basically just short of bankrupt and they pull this...their fate is sealed and her carrer in politics is going to come to an abrupt and hopefully painful end in terms of legalities END! Meaning answering to the BC Rail fiasco.

The public needs to revolt...a 4 day trip to China to do a photo op on the Great Wall Of China...for the love of god, whats on earth can you possibly accomplish in 4 days when 2 of which are to recover from jet lag on the tax payers dime...its criminal...she seriously has to go,,,and quick, her lack of responsibility and basic ethics is without a doubt at the level of a 16 yr old high schooler, she is completely out of touch with reality, I seriously wonder if there is something wrong with her mental capacity and requires medication to function at the level of an adult!

Snookie do us, yourself & your son a favor....call it a career and take a day job at starbucks!

The government is so out of hand. I just cant believe this latest bit of information

if they got a group of private BC citizens then many common sense decisons and recommendations could be made

Those in office have 100% lost their ways........

Ridiculous, this person should not know more than what's in the law.
If he is so experienced and wise then he should be a respected academic at any of our Universities.

    Otherwise is corruption.
