A 26-year old Vancouver man has been charged with animal cruelty.

Jordan Lucas is accused of using his cellphone to record himself torturing a kitten.

Laurie Chortyk speaks for the SPCA.

"We certainly are grateful to the police because on the phone all you could see was a man's hands. We were able to trace through the phone and through the tattoo on one of his hands, trace back to the owner."

It's not clear what happened to the cat.

Lucas was arrested yesterday and is appearing in court today.
