Trying to change the RCMP--from within

In the midst of growing tensions between RCMP brass and the rank-and-file, a new group has been formed to change the force from within.

Calling themselves "the Re-sergeance Alliance," they claim to be 500-strong, made up of retired and current members of the RCMP  in BC, with one goal: to "restore faith" in the force.

The "re-sergeancy" takes responsibility for "outing" Corporal Jim Brown,  the officer seen in sexual fetish photos he posted online.

The group's first blog post says its members have waited for change from new leadership -- and instead watched managers refuse to meet demands made by Commissioner Bob Paulson.

But they also accuse the top mountie of acting like he's at a "kissing booth at the country fair" with both the members and the public.

The group vows to post investigative files and pictures in the coming days.

Even Dudley Do-Right looks like a better role model right now.

If the RCMP want to start doing the DO RIGHT thing.....
they need to start focusng on the actual bad guys and leave the
law-abiding citizens (and female members) alone

Can't wait to see what they post!

BTW: that kissing booth would be verrryyyyy empty!!

It's about time. There had to be a core group in the RCMP who are tired of being held in contempt by the public because their management is out of step, out of touch, and out to lunch.

Well now, isn't this an interesting development. I was wondering how long it would be before the honorable Members of Canada's finest would decide to put an end to the fiasco the R.C.M.P. have become in recent years. If they are able to stop the b.s., I would imagine the vast majority of the public will be right behind them in support. I know I am because at this point how much more damage can the bad apples do? But something needs to be done since it appears the upper management cannot control things.

this news item at least illustrates a pro-active approach to addressing the significant problems with the RCMP. These Mounties are DOING, Commissioner Paulson hasn't put into action his words, continues to fight with rank/file, and require new legislation, new 100 staff, rather than using the excellant tools at his disposal. Change must come from within and implementation of the Guiding Principles, esp. the Core Values, will have greater affect tahn forcing officers to blindly accept changes. Every office on a daily basis adhere to honesty, respect, integrity, accountability, compassion, and professionalism. These along with the three Motherhood Statements if implemented by all officers in their duties would not only restore respect/trust from the public but unite the force.
