Zach Parise scored twice including a tally in the opening minute of the game, as the Minnesota Wild doubled the Vancouver Canucks 4-2 and moved into first place in the Northwest Division in the process.
Jason Zucker and Jared Spurgeon also lit the lamp for the Wild, who never trailed in this game and sent Vancouver to their fourth consecutive defeat. Chris Higgins and Henrik Sedin replied in defeat while Cory Schneider suffered his third loss of the week.
The Canucks will now head off to Columbus tomorrow for a Tuesday date against the Blue Jackets, who are now unbeaten in seven games.
With the loss, the Canucks fall from first place in the Northwest Division and 3rd overall in the West to 7th in the crowded conference. Vancouver is tied with Minnesota, Los Angeles and St Louis with 28 points. In fact, third through 11th place in the West is now separated by just three points.
