The Anaheim Ducks have locked up captain Ryan Getzlaf on a long-term deal.

The NHL team has signed the veteran forward to an eight-year contract extension worth $66 million, or an annual cap hit of $8.25 million.

Getzlaf has recorded 27 points (nine goals, 18 assists) in 22 games this season.

The 27-year-old Regina native has 499 points in 534 career NHL games with the Ducks.

Getzlaf won a Stanley Cup with Anaheim in 2007.

He also helped Canada win Olympic gold at the 2010 Games in Vancouver.
