Antti Niemi turned aside 36 of 38 shots during the game and three of four Canucks shooters in the shootout to lead the San Jose Sharks to a 3-2 shootout win over the Vancouver Canucks at Roger's Arena.
Scott Gomez and Adam Burish scored to stake the Sharks to a 2-0 lead early in the second period. However, Henrik Sedin and Jannik Hansen with his third in three games scored for Vancouver to level the score at 2-2 through two periods.
After a scoreless third period and hectic yet non-productive overtime, Joe Pavelski sealed the deal in Round Four for the Sharks, beating Cory Schneider to secure the win.
Vancouver will now head out on a three game road trip beginning Thursday night in Columbus versus the Blue Jackets.
